A thousand dollars is objectively a lot of money to almost everyone, including most people who love fashion, but it won’t necessarily buy you a whole lot from high-end designers, in bags or beyond. Most top-tier brands start their bag lines somewhere between $900 and $1,200, and what constitutes a “bag” at that price point varies widely at that price point–it could be anything from a glorified wallet with a little chain strap to a roomy, simple leather tote.
At the end of 2015, we looked at what lots of designers were offering at that price point, and you guys responded so enthusiastically that we thought it was time to do it again. Compared to late 2015, some brands have improved their base-level offerings, some brands have gotten notably more hostile to customers at that price point and a couple have moved their entire line into the four-figures. Check out the bags below to see who gives you the best bang for your buck.
